While Margaret Morrison has long been synonymous with master leathercraft, 2025 marked a pivotal evolution for our workshop. Driven by an exponential increase in demand for bespoke hardware, we officially expanded our in-house capabilities to include the art of metal casting and fabrication. Master Restoration: Preserving Heritage Repair and restoration have always been core to our workshop’s mission. We recognize that many of the sporrans crossing our benches are not just accessories, but cherished family heirlooms. In 2025, our ability to provide a "full-service" restoration—addressing both the leather and the metalwork—reached new heights. A few notable achievements included: The Duke of Argyll: Replacing the delicate silver arms on a historic family sporran. The Duke of Hamilton: Recreating an RAF sporran cantle with matching bells. The Invercauld Highlanders: Replicating intricate badges and sporran frames to restore ceremonial regalia to its former glory. The Atholl Highlands: we were able to cast new metal work for recruits in The Atholl Highlanders right down to the cones. Toronto Scottish: We made all cantles and bells in house using brass and had these chrome plated. The Duff highlanders: Creating new badges by using an original badge to sand cast from to create new authentic badges. By mastering these repairs in-house, we ensure that these pieces can be passed down to future generations with their structural and aesthetic integrity fully intact. Casting a New Future: In-House Production Putting on the "casting gloves" has allowed us to experiment with a variety of precious and base metals, including Sterling Silver, Brass, Pewter, and Nickel. This shift has moved us from being a simple assembly workshop to a true design house. Our 2025 metalwork portfolio included: Custom Brass Mounts: Hand-finished fittings for our bespoke Badger Head & Fox head sporrans. Bespoke Kilt Accessories: The design and production of our own range of kilt buckles and exclusive cufflinks. Custom Creations: We're were able to provide a full Sterling Silver of accessories for a customer using his own emblem. Client Collaborations: We developed a signature range of brass kilt pins for a specific partner, ensuring their accessories are entirely unique to their brand. Looking Ahead to 2026: Exclusive Trade Collections The success of these projects has laid the groundwork for our next chapter. In 2026, we are developing a series of Exclusive Metalwork Collections. These limited-run designs will offer your customers an unparalleled level of exclusivity that can only be found at Margaret Morrison.
